■ Jacinda must think we are all dumb. As if we couldn’t understand Level 1, 2, 3, 4. We now have traffic lights. What next!

■ Palmy, Gizzie, Dunners, Ecky, Welly, The Tron, Dannevegas... these are nicknames for various NZ towns and cities. Only Palmerston North has stooped to using slang as a substitute name for our city.

We deserve more respect from the council.

■ Prime minister talks each day about how many new covid cases there is, does she mean covid-19 or Delta? They’re different. The jab only helps us a wee bit with the delta variant. Scary. A study on the vaccine’s effectiveness, published in The Lancet, concluded that waning effectiveness was likely primarily due to waning immunity with time rather than the Delta variant escaping vaccine protection.

■ I was under the impression the police are employed to protect us from people who are breaking the law. So why are they unable to arrest boy racers who are threatening and scaring people in their homes and neighbourhood? Their excuse is totally ridiculous. DMB

■ I bet the government regrets its early decision not to take up the opposition parties’ offers to work together on the covid outbreak . The sole limelight on possible elimination was simply too alluring and has turned into sole disaster
