Positive change

It was refreshing to read A chance to replace the past with the future (July 21), by the Salvation Army’s Ian Hutson.

Unlike all those letter writers who are so negative, he actually worked on a rehabilitation programme for Mongrel Mob members, and it was funded by a National government.

It is refreshing because he recalls the transformational change that occurred in those gang members who took part. Offending reduces or stops when people stand to lose more if they continue.

So let’s be positive, and support the Hawkes Bay programme for giving a hard-to-reach section of society a chance to turn their lives around.
