According to NPR, the popsicle – our ice block – was invented by accident by an 11-year-old. In 1905 San Francisco, Frank Epperson mixed sugary soda powder with water and left it out overnight, the mixture froze on the cold night and in the morning he licked it off the wooden stirrer and decided it was delicious.
