Man found injured on roadside

Aman is in critical condition after being allegedly hit by a car outside a petrol station in Palmerston North on Thursday night. A police media spokesman said a personwas found lying on the road outside the Z service station on Pioneer Highway at 9.15pm. Therewas no vehicle at the scene and police were making inquiries into what had happened. A St John ambulance spokeswoman said one personwas transported to Palmerston North Hospital in a critical condition. A MidCentral District Health Board media spokesman said the patient had been transferred to Wellington Hospital yesterday.
