Aussie facing 8-week ban

Former Brisbane, Parramatta and St George Illawarra playmaker Corey Norman faces eight weeks on the Super League sidelines after allegedly trying to stick his hand between an opponent’s legs during a tackle. Two decades after John Hopoate copped a 12-match ban for actions one NRL commissioner at the time described as ‘disgusting, violent [and] offensive’, Toulouse halfback Norman has been hit with the most severe Grade F charge for what is considered ‘other contrary behaviour’. An eightmatch ban is the minimum if found guilty of the charge, with no limit to the upper end of the punishment scale.
