‘‘It was a chance to be together looking at new spaces, just as someone building a new house might visit open homes to get ideas about how to utilise space best.

The Marlborough Technology Centre was managed by Bohally Intermediate and might be included in part of the rebuild on the new site, although no decisions had yet been reached on that, Cameron-dunn said.

‘‘Decisions will be made around the movement of the Marlborough Technology Centre in this next stage of master planning, but we are front-footing a possible move by thinking about what a new technology centre could look like if it was to move as part of the rebuild,’’ she said.

A newsletter on the project sent out this week said work on the design brief phase was continuing to track well and on schedule, despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The design and construction team from Te Tumu had completed all design hui with iwi and schools, and the information from these hui had informed the design brief for each school, which was now being finalised.

Te Tumu had also completed a number of site investigations at the schools, including a topographical and drone survey, heritage assessments and building assessments.

Detailed design including site layout, building design and cultural features would take place both during and after the next phase of master planning.

Master planning would commence once the design briefs for the schools had been approved, and would progress through to mid-2022, providing the construction blueprint for the schools pre-design.

It would also address how construction would be managed to minimise disruption to students.

The public’s responses from a community survey in August were being referenced throughout the design brief and master planning stages, and the three principals were working to reschedule a community hui once public health restrictions allowed.
