Opera event ticket holders to be refunded

People who bought tickets for Nelson Opera in the Park, which has now been cancelled, will be refunded, the Nelson City Council says.

The popular event, which was due to be held on February 19 and headlined by Kiwi entertainer Stan Walker, was cancelled by the council on Monday after New Zealand moved into the red traffic light setting of the Covid-19 protection framework.

The council said tickets bought online and with credit cards at i-Site would be refunded through Eventfinda, while tickets bought with cash and eftpos at i-Site could be refunded at the council’s customer service centre.

People who purchased tickets from Nelson’s Theatre Royal can get refunds at the theatre.

The council is exploring the possibility of holding the event next year instead. Normally, Opera in the Park is held every second year.
