TO THE POINT

Vic Smith needn't worry about Santa this season (Letters, Nov 25). Sticky Beak the Kiwi will be delivering our presents this year. He's double-vaccinated and only has helpers from the Antipodes. It's worth a listen on YouTube. My uncle, F. Neil Roberts, composed the music. It's a funny and uplifting classic Kiwi Christmas song.

More chips for your buck (Nov 25) informs readers of the varying weights of chips you receive according to which small town you buy them in. Might it be worth doing a survey of the BMI ranges of people living in those small towns? Obesity is rife in Aotearoa, adding to the Covid-19 epidemic. When the chips are down, is it not time to start educating people about the causes of their obesity and type-2 diabetes? J

Surely there is no point in telling farmers to reduce cow numbers as long as other land (think new irrigation schemes in Canterbury/ Otago and pine plantations around Taupō) is being given approval to be converted into new beef and dairy farms!
