IT system mistakes

Re Roger Dowling’s assertion (Letters, Nov 26) that flawed amendments to the Holidays Act in 2004 resulted in the necessity for large backpayments to employees, the mistakes made were in payroll IT systems that tried to be too simplistic and treat all workers’ situations as similar, and didn’t implement what the act required to address the casualisation of the workforce during the 1990s.
