General Manager, Migration

The New Zealand Red Cross (NZRC) has approximately 500 staff and over 11,000 members nationwide, with the national office based in Wellington. This secondtier role is part of the newly reshaped NZRC leadership structure, and requires the capacity to work collegially with executive peers to provide cohesive leadership for an organisation on a journey of positive change.

Reporting to the Secretary General, the General Manager, Migration is responsible for the delivery of a migration strategy and the management of migration programmes. This includes activities supporting former refugees and vulnerable migrants through a range of programmes. This role also oversees the development and delivery of new programmes designed to respond to the unmet needs of vulnerable migrants in line with a newly developed strategy.

Ideally, you will offer the following experience and capabilities:

• A successful track record as a senior leader capable of strategy development and delivery in large organisations

Solid understanding of operational workforce issues involving a significant volunteer component

An affinity for not-for-profit humanitarian service delivery or similar environments, including working with vulnerable migrants (especially refugees and asylum seekers) Strong commercial acumen as it relates to tendering for government contracts within the not-for-profit sector

A pragmatic approach to balancing operational efficiency with the requirements of a humanitarian organisation

• Prior migration sector experience will be an advantage.
