A new townhouse development in Mount Cook will combine premium low-maintenance living with lovely views and proximity to the city.

Building of the nine architecturally-designed units, at 27 Thompson St, will start next year and should take about 12 months to complete.

‘‘This will be inner-city living without compromise,’’ Leigh Adgo, of Lowe & Co Realty, says.

‘‘may be your solution if you are scaling down from a big family home but still need something bigger than an apartment or typical townhouse and which is within a few minutes’ walk of the city.’’

The ‘twentyseven’ unit-title townhouses will have floor areas of predominantly 130 square metres.

Two will have two doublebedrooms and the rest will have three double-bedrooms; all will have two bathrooms (including ensuites for the main bedrooms), open-plan living/dining, separate laundries and internal single garages.

‘‘They will also connect to spacious outdoor living, either paved courtyards with plantings or large decks,’’ Adgo says.

The sites are flat yet elevated for sun and views across Aro Valley. The four townhouses on the street front will have their own front gates and pathways to the front door.

‘‘Generally it’s rare in Wellington to be able to buy a new house on a street front,’’ Adgo says.

Some of the east-facing town houses will offer harbour glimpses from their first-floor living areas.

The living areas will be openplan with heat pumps, the wellappointed kitchens will have quartz benchtops, and most of the bathrooms will have doubleshowers with marble-style tiling.

The exteriors will be a mix of cedar, profile metal cladding and weatherboard and each townhouse will have two or three levels.

‘‘The interior detailing will be vibrant and fun with its own individuality,’’ Adgo says.

‘‘No two town houses will look the same — each will be distinctive because that’s the key to development: they’re for owner-occupiers who want their ‘own’ unique home.

‘‘It’s all about owning a house in the city that’s modern and maintenance-free, in an established residential neighbourhood only a couple of minutes’ walk from the top of Willis Street or Cuba Street.’’
