Disruption temporary

I can empathise with anyone’s need for private transport, especially when transporting children or heavy purchases.

What David Marshall (Letters, Nov 29) does not acknowledge is that disruption caused by the installation of light rail systems is temporary and the benefits long outweigh the inconvenience.

I have travelled on light rail in Melbourne, Sydney and Dublin, as well as watching the Sydney project’s budget and time blowouts. The resulting ease of quiet, quick transport far outweighs the few years of inconvenience.

Good things take time . . . and money, so the city council needs to stop talking and get moving into a greener future. Janet Russell, Kingston
