. and medical staff

I recently completed around six months’ treatment for cancer with Wellington Regional Hospital’s Radiation Department and I just want to acknowledge what splendid public health service I received.

The public so often hears the moans and groans and how the health system is ‘‘broken’’, but this part isn’t. The staff were hugely professional, very responsive and flexible in their approach and overwhelmingly cheerful (a tonic in itself) in the face of the considerable provocation otherwise.

Some of the patients in hospital look irreversibly glum, many with good cause, I am sure, but staff seem to be on a mission to lift spirits, which is much appreciated.

My health tax dollars are certainly being well spent in that department. Harry Broad, Ngaio
