Primary care ignored again
The new health reforms are touted as a game-changer, and the core drivers of improving health outcomes, reducing health inequity and the postcode lottery, and integrating the health services are laudable.
The latter is already looking laughable with no primary care representatives in roles designed to improve primary care.
Sadly this mirrors my 30 years’ experience of interaction with our local district health board as a primary care representative. Come on, Health New Zealand, come down from your lofty silos and engage with primary care in a positive and meaningful way, or nothing will change.
