The Marists: the truth and tragedy

I am familiar with the Marist Fathers and have knowledge of a number of the people mentioned ( School removes abuser portraits and honours, Dec 3) and have read most of Steve Kilgallon’s series of articles.

I know that some of those mentioned are abusers; it seems that some of the others might be and it is also likely that the allegations against some are unfounded.

We will probably never know the truth, which is not only tragic for the victims but unfair to those alleged perpetrators that were not.

A point made in the article seems a good one: unless someone comes to the police or the school authorities with a credible accusation, one has a right to a good name.
