Vaccine passes

I have to agree with Mason Wright of Sumner (Letters, Nov 25).

When I queried my local MP, the answer came back that from December 14, ‘‘those travelling on an Air New Zealand domestic flight will need to have one of the following – proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 or a negative Covid-19 test result, taken within 72 hours of your departing flight, either in the form of a text message or letter from a medical professional’’.

Sounds good, huh? Just what is the proof? A copy of someone else’s Covid pass? Easy enough to send to friends.

Won’t work unless that person has to have proof of identity – which wasn’t mentioned.

It would be much better to issue a card like a driver’s license with photo ID on the card, along with the QR code, to give proof of vaccination.

Not much protection for us down here in the South Island, is it? L McInnes, Upper Riccarton (abridged)
