Shut out of home

New Zealand is not my home anymore.

With a full vaccination certificate and a negative Covid test, I cannot enter the country of which I have been a proud citizen since birth.

Spain let me in. Italy let me in. Greece let me in. France will let me in. The United States will let me in. Not New Zealand.

I realise that many of the “team of 5 million’’ will think this is just a whinge. Many of the 1m of us outside NZ may agree with me.

It is disturbing to me that what I always thought was my home is not; and even more disturbing that most of my fellow Kiwis don’t care.

Viewed from offshore, NZ is no longer admirable and has fallen way behind the rest of the world.

A pity.
