Man in critical condition after paraglider crash

A paraglider was in a critical condition in hospital last night after crashing 150 metres down a cliff face near Wānaka. A witness alerted police to a man who was in trouble at Treble Cone shortly before 1pm yesterday after he crashed near Pyramid Peak. The man was winched to safety by the Otago Rescue Helicopter at around 2.20pm and flown to Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries. Fire and Emergency New Zealand and Alpine Cliff Rescue also assisted at the scene.
