Man arrested moments after release from MIQ

A man was arrested still with his luggage in his hand moments after being released from a managed isolation and quarantine facility in Christchurch. The man was arrested outside the Distinction Hotel in Cathedral Square about 1pm yesterday, a police spokeswoman said. A warrant had been issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court in June 2019 ‘‘in relation to several matters’’, she said. A Press reporter at the scene said two police cars and at least five officers were waiting for the man outside the hotel. He is due to appear in Christchurch District Court today, the spokeswoman said.
