Crash victim named

Police have released the name of the man who died in a single-vehicle crash in South Waikato. He was 37-year-old Lama Masoe from Tokoroa. St John and police were called to the crash on State Highway 30 or Waipapa Rd near Mangakino, at 3.30am on January 10. One other person involved in the crash was transported to Rotorua Hospital with serious injuries, police said. The highway connects the Waikato and Bay of Plenty towns of Te Kūiti, Mangakino, Rotorua, and Whakatāne. An inquiry into the crash is ongoing.
